How to Check if an Installed Extension Is Up-to-Date

If you have opened an incident regarding an extension that was installed from the Extension Gallery, please make sure that you are using the latest available version. It is possible that your issue has already been resolved in a newer release. This article explains how to check which extensions are installed on your system and how to identify whether an update is available.

Prerequisites

  • Access to the Matrix42 platform with administrative permissions
  • A valid Matrix42 Account to use the Extension Gallery

Step 1: Open the Extension Gallery

Navigate to the following section within the Matrix42 platform:

Administration > Extension Gallery

Access to the Extension Gallery requires logging in with your Matrix42 Account. You might also be asked to log in with an administrative account to link the Extension Gallery to your M42Enterprise instance.

Step 2: Switch to the “Installed” Tab

In the Extension Gallery, go to the tab labeled Installed.

All extensions currently installed on your system are listed there. If a newer version of an extension is available, it will be marked with an Update button.

We recommend performing updates only during designated maintenance windows. Most updates will place your M42Enterprise platform into maintenance mode temporarily.

Step 3: Identify the Installed Version

To check the exact version of a currently installed extension, navigate to:

Administration > Extensions > Installed Packages

This view provides a list of all installed packages along with their corresponding version numbers.

Step 4: Inform Support

Once you have verified that the extension is up-to-date, please include the installed version number in your response to the support team. This information helps us analyze your issue more efficiently.

If the extension in question is a Data Provider, please make sure you have also updated the Generic Inventory Data Provider extension. This component is a required dependency and must be up-to-date to ensure full compatibility.

Summary of Steps:

  1. Open Administration > Extension Gallery
  2. Log in with your Matrix42 Account (and admin account if prompted)
  3. Switch to the Installed tab and check for available updates
  4. Open Administration > Extensions > Installed Packages to find the installed version
  5. Share the version number with Support

If you have any questions or need assistance with the update process, please let us know.
