Report - Cost Saving Potential
Overview
This report displays the possible cost saving potential of unused and wasted software maintenance.
To display the report values a reporting date must be selected. It is also required to select the currency that should be used to display all values.
If you have data stored in different currencies, make sure to provide exchange rates to convert in your desired reporting currency.
The report can be filtered by:
- Company Code
- Publisher
- Organizational Unit
- Software Product (click on publisher to see details for its software products)
Top 10 Saving Potential
At the top of the report, you can see an overview table and a bar chart for top 10 software publishers. They display the unused and wasted costs spent on software maintenance per publisher for the current year and the next two years.

This value is calculated as a sum of cost plans divided by number of purchased usage rights and then multiplied by number of unused usage rights. The report takes into account only cost plans that are associated with contract items of the Maintenance type that are related to licenses with maintenance. |
| Wasted | This value is calculated as a sum of cost plans divided by number of purchased usage rights and then multiplied by number of usage rights that entitle license requirements for the older versions of software products. The report takes into account only cost plans that are associated with contract items of the Maintenance type that are related to licenses with maintenance. |
Report per publisher
In the detail area, the table displays cost saving potential for all software publishers.
Remember that all values are calculated for the current year and the next two years.

| Purchased | Sum of cost plans that are associated with contract items of the Maintenance type. The contract items must be related to licenses with maintenance. |
| Used | This value is calculated as a sum of cost plans divided by number of purchased usage rights and then multiplied by number of usage rights used for entitlements. The report takes into account only cost plans that are associated with contract items of the Maintenance type that are related to licenses with maintenance. |
| Unused | This value is calculated as a sum of cost plans divided by number of purchased usage rights and then multiplied by number of UNUSED usage rights. The report takes into account only cost plans that are associated with contract items of the Maintenance type that are related to licenses with maintenance. |
| Wasted | This value is calculated as a sum of cost plans divided by number of purchased usage rights and then multiplied by number of usage rights that entitle license requirements for the older versions of software products. The report takes into account only cost plans that are associated with contract items of the Maintenance type that are related to licenses with maintenance. |

You can click the name of a publisher to drill down into data on software products associated with this publisher.
Example
- A license (full version with maintenance) has 25 available rights.
- A contract item of the maintenance type is assigned to this license. Its cost plan value for 1 year is 1,500 EUR.
- 23 usage rights are assigned to license requirements and 2 usage rights rights are free.
- 18 license requirements are related to Adobe Acrobat 3D 8 and 5 license requirements are related to Adobe Acrobat 3D 1.
Purchased is calculated as 1,500 EUR x 3 = 4,500 EUR.
Used is 4,500 EUR / 25 x 23 = 4,140 EUR.
Unused equals 4,500 EUR / 25 x 2 = 360 EUR.
Wasted is 4,500 EUR / 25 x 5 = 900 EUR.
