  • Oracle Compliance is able to detect if a VM is running in AWS, Azure or Oracle Cloud, the information is presented in System navigation

Version 3.2

Oracle Compliance is now verified by Oracle for Databases, Options and Management Packs as well as for JAVA!

Starting with Version 3.2  the solution provides additional data sets for Oracle Java,  that Oracle will accept whenever accurate measurement data is needed and as an alternative to installing Oracle measurement tools.

Improvements

  • New Dashboard "Oracle GLAS Export files"
    • The required and verified data sets for Oracle Database products and Oracle Java  for any engagement with Oracle can be generated using the tool.
    • Ability to download the appropriate set of Oracle GLAS files directly from the new dashboard
  • Improved data masking for for the Oracle GLAS Export files
  • Improved Import handling

Fixed problems

  • PRB36933: Extension Oracle Compliance: Use of Oracle Datapump Export with Compression is not recognized
  • N/A: Fixed issue with Unix Data Collection scripts, where for some Solaris systems some outputs were not always correctly generated due to wrong env parameter

  • Improved detection logic for option "Advanced Compression"

Version 3.0

Improvements

  • Java Inventory
    • Oracle Compliance has been extended to include a full Java Inventory. Based on the already existing Hardware and Database discovery & inventory features additionally all licensing and inventory relevant Java information are collected using the extended Oracle Compliance scripts.
  • Oracle Compliance Data Collection Result files can be uploaded and imported using the user interface
  • For all System and Database grids a new action "Upload Oracle Inventory Result Files  was implemented ".  After the upload, the files will be processed and imported.

Fixed problems

  • PRB36836: Oracle Compliance V2: PaxHeader error prevents import of result files
  • PRB36693: CDB_ROOT of Oracle Enterprise Manager database is detected as requiring a license

Version 2.6

Improvements

  • Automatic generation of license requirements for Named User Plus (NUP)
  • License requirements  for Named User Plus (NUP) are now automatically generated based on the calculated minimum NUPs. The calculated amount can then be manually edited to reflect the specific license  requirements in the customer's environment.

Fixed problems

  • Improved mapping for the database targets when retrieving information from Oracle Enterprise Manager / Cloud Control.
  • Unix/Linux scripts:  Fixed issues with the usage of sudo with the authentication  to the queried Database when using OS-Authentication or Oracle Wallets.

Version 2.5

Oracle Compliance is now verified by Oracle for Databases, Options and Management Packs .

Starting with Version 2.5 the solution provides data sets for Oracle Databases, Options and Management Packs that Oracle will accept whenever accurate measurement data is needed and as an alternative to installing Oracle measurement tools.

Improvements

  • Extended data collection for all platforms. Additional scripts and queries have been added to meet all requirements as an Oracle verified tool vendor.
  • Generation of Oracle GLAS export files. The required and verified data sets for any engagement with Oracle can be generated using the tool.
    • Ability to download Oracle GLAS files from the Matrix42 Oracle Compliance tool.
    • Usernames and IP addresses in the generated Oracle GLAS files can be masked
  • Improved Oracle Server Worksheet
    • New fields were added.
    • All fields where values have to be provided manually can now be edited in the Database Instance dialog.
  • Calculation of minimum NUP licenses required for Enterprise Edition and Standard Edition 2
    • The minimum NUP licenses which would be required is being calculated for these editions and is presented in the complex system grid and preview.
  • Compliance check for the maximum socket restriction for Standard Edition deployments
    • It is being analyzed if Oracle's policy regarding the deployment restriction of a Standard Edition/One/2 to a specific amount of maximum available sockets.  The Max Sockets field on the complex system level shows the amount of maximal available sockets for any of the servers within that complex system. If the Hardware does not meet the policy, then the breach is represented by a red cell.
  • Wizard for choosing a license metric for database instances. The Change License Metric action opens the corresponding wizard. If you choose NUP or None, no license requirements will be generated.

Fixed problems

  • Core and CPU count for Linux is calculated correctly.
  • Short versions higher than 19 are now displayed in grids correctly.

Version 2.4

Improvements

  • Full Support for Oracle VM for sparc (logical domains)
    • Logical Domains are recognized as such and mapped to the correct domain (host)
    • Compliance checks with Oracle's partitioning policy for Oracle VM sparc and determination of hard/softpartitioning of the system configuration of the logical domains
    • Automatic generation of license requirements for Oracle database products running on Oracle VM sparc
  • Privilege elevation for Linux and Solaris Scripts
    • M42DataCollectionUnix  Scripts for Solaris and Linux can now run as root user or as a standard user using sudo

Version 2.3

Improvements

  • Digital signature: Extension is now digitally signed.
  • Improvements in OS detection: Improvements in detection of Redhat Linux OS.

Fixed problems

  • PRB36131: Oracle Compliance can be installed and partially run without an existing license.
  • Fixed issues with long queries regarding Spatial features in OracleDBInventory.sql in M42DataCollectionUnix and M42DataCollectionWin.

Version 2.2

Improvements

  • The Upload Oracle Data Collection Results data provider
    • It is a new data provider to upload and process Oracle data collection results from folders on remote systems.
  • Determination of hard/softpartitioning of the systems configuration and compliance checks with Oracle's partitioning policy for systems virtualized with:
    • Oracle Linux KVM
    • Oracle VMx86
    • Solaris Zones
  • The add-on automatically creates complex systems and license requirements for Oracle database products running on:

  • User interface improvements
    • The Purchased Licenses navigation item was added.
    • All default actions are now available for the following navigation items: Software Products, Fingerprints, License Requirements.
  • Last Scan and Last Import: These two columns were added to the Systems and Database Products > Instances grids.
  • M42DataCollectionWin: The execution date was added to the data collection scripts on Windows systems.
  • M42DataCollectionUnix: CPU resource collection was improved for the data collection scripts on Unix systems.
