Navigation in Asset Management

Overview

Objects that are specific to Asset Management are organized under the following navigation items:

  • Stock Keeping Units
  • Workplaces
  • Infrastructure
  • Universal Assets

 Stock Keeping Units

When you click Stock Keeping Units from the navigation, by default the Existing filter is applied. It means that the grid displays only SKUs with assigned devices. To see all SKUs, clear the filter.

Workplaces

Along with displaying workplaces directly in the Workplaces navigation item, this item also contains the Client Devices and Peripheral Devices nested navigation items.

Client Devices

The Client Devices navigation items displays computers that are assigned to SKUs and have one of the following SKU types:

  • Desktop,
  • Developer PC,
  • Mobile Phone,
  • Notebook,
  • PDA,
  • Tablet,
  • Tablet PC.

If a computer object is not associated with a SKU with a type specified above, it will not be shown under Client Devices. Instead, it will be displayed under Infrastructure > Servers and Infrastructure > Servers > Unknown Devices.

 Peripheral Devices

This navigation item contains objects of the following types:

  • Monitors,
  • Printers,
  • General Peripherals,
  • Portable Storages.

Objects of these types will be displayed in the corresponding nested navigation items whether they are associated with a relevant SKU or not.

Clicking the Infrastructure navigation item immediately opens the Servers navigation item. This item displays computers that are assigned to SKUs and have one of the following SKU types:

  • Server,
  • Virtual Machine,
