Fixing failed validation of an invalid license
Overview
After you save a license, validation is carried out. The validation result is displayed in the Validation Details section on a license preview and under the Usage Rights section on the General page of the license dialog. Below you can find guidelines on fixing validation issues.
Failed validation messages
Software Product Missing
Go to the Usage Rights section on the General page and select the relevant software product.
License Model Missing
Go to the Usage Rights section on the General page and select the license model. Keep in mind that only relevant license models of the selected software are available. if some license model is missing from the list, you need to open the corresponding software dialog and add this license model on the Relevant License Models page.
Provide either Purchase Order Number and Supplier, Invoice Number and Supplier, Purchase Contract or Contract Item
This message signifies that purchase validation has failed. You can use any of the following options to solve this issue:
- Go to the Catalog Item section on the General page, select a contract in the Purchase Contract.
- Go to the Catalog Item section on the General page and fill in the Order Number field. Then open the Purchase page and select a supplier in the corresponding field.
- Go to the Catalog Item section on the General page and fill in the Invoice Number field. Then open the Purchase page and select a supplier in the corresponding field.
- Go to the Purchase section on the Purchase page and add a contract item in the Contract Items grid.
Not Released to License Pool
Go to the License Pool section on the General page and select Released in the Release Status field.
License Validity Period Missing
Fill in the Valid From and Valid Until fields in the Catalog Item section on the General page.
License Validity Has Expired
Go to the Catalog Item section on the General page and fill in the Valid Until field with a future date.
Maintenance Expiration Date Passed or Missing
Go to the Maintenance section on the General page and fill in the Valid Until field with a future date.
Base License Missing
Go to the Related Licenses page and add one or several base licenses in the Base Licenses grid. If the selected license has unlimited usage rights, make sure that its base license is also unlimited.
No License - Support Only/Media Only
This status is set for Support Only and Media Only licenses by default. No changes are required.
Computers Not Assigned or Not Relevant
This message is displayed for OEM licenses only. This type of license requires assigned devices whose status is relevant for compliance. Therefore, to solve this issue, you should either add relevant devices or adjust statuses of already assigned devices.
You can add devices in the System Restrictions grid on the Availability page. Only assets that are relevant for compliance can be selected. If you are missing some device, it means that its status is not relevant for compliance.
Alternatively, if a license has assigned devices with irrelevant statuses, you can adjust statuses of devices in the Assets application.
Subscription Period Is Not Yet Effective
This message is displayed for Subscription and Subscription Renewal licenses only. It means that the license validity period is in the future. You can adjust the dates by editing the Valid From and Valid Until fields in the Catalog Item section on the General page.
Invalid Company Code
This message appears if a license and its selected software are assigned to different organizational units and at least one organizational unit has an enabled company code. In this case, you need to:
- Select the license in the grid and run the Transfer License action from the actions panel. This action allows adjusting ownership of a license.
Assigned Software Must Be Version 'Non-specific’
This message is displayed for Full Version with Maintenance, Maintenance, and Maintenance Renewal licenses only. Go to the Usage Rights section on the General page and select the non-specific version of the software in the Software Product field.
At Least One Base License Is Invalid
Go to the Related Licenses page and check licenses in the Base Licenses grid. You should either remove an invalid license from the grid or fix the failed validation for this license.
Count of Associated Usage Rights Is More Than Purchased Amount
This message signifies that the quantity of usage rights from base license(s) exceeds the usage rights' quantity of the selected license.
First you should check if the usage rights' quantity of the selected license is correct. If so, you need to adjust base license(s):
- Go to the Related Licenses page and remove all base licenses in the Base Licenses grid. Save.
- Add a base license with the correct count of underlying usage rights.
License Has Circular Reference Inside Upgrade License Chain
This issue occurs with a chain of base licenses. The message signifies that a certain license is used as base license for another one that precedes it in a chain. You should review the chain and adjust base licenses.
Warning messages
The messages below are displayed for valid licenses that have non-critical issues with their base license(s).
Count of Associated Usage Rights Is Less Than Purchased Amount
This message is shown when a license is valid, but some of its usage rights are invalid. Such an issue occurs when the quantity of usage rights provided by a base license is less than the usage rights' quantity of the selected license. To fix this, go to the Base Licenses grid on the Related Licenses page and add one or several more base licenses. Make sure that the quantity of usage rights from base licenses equals the quantity of usage rights required by the selected license.
License Is Unlimited But Base License Is Limited
This issue occurs after a license has been converted to unlimited. Go to the Base Licenses grid on the Related Licenses page, remove all displayed base licenses, and then add an unlimited base license.
Several Unlimited Base Licenses Found
Go to the Related Licenses page and remove all excessive base licenses in the Base Licenses grid. There should be only one base license that is valid and unlimited.
