Setting notifications about expiring licenses

Overview

Certain types of licenses have their validity periods. When these licenses expire, they can no longer be assigned to license requirements. By knowing about license's expiration in advance, you can arrange for purchases of new licenses or evaluate your current license consumption. To keep track of license expiration dates, you can set up notifications.

Checking license expiration dates

The following types of licenses have a validity period:

  • Full Version with Maintenance
  • Maintenance
  • Maintenance Renewal
  • Software as a Service
  • Subscription
  • Subscription Renewal
  • Evaluation

The validity expiration date is set under the Catalog Item section on the General tab of the license dialog, just below the license type field.

Configuring expiration notifications

To set up the expiration notification for a license, you need to fill in the following fields on the General tab of the license dialog (see section above for details):

  1. Select Reminder to activate notifications.
  2. In the Days in Advance field, specify how many days before the license expiration the notification must be sent.
  3. In Expiration Mail Recipient select the user who will receive the notification.

Example

License expiration date is September 30, 2019 and Days in Advance is set to 5. The notification email will be sent on September 25, 2019.
