Handling deletion in Contract Management
Overview
Depending on your company's policy, you can configure the system to either delete contracts completely or assign the Deleted status for them. To define the required behaviour, you should use the Settings page in the Contracts application. If the Deleted status is selected in the Available Status Values for Contracts setting, running the Delete action for master contracts, volume license agreements, contracts, and contract items will not physically delete these objects from the system. Instead their status will be changed to Deleted. The dialogs of such objects will become read-only.

What happens if you assign the Deleted status
Master contracts and volume license agreements
If the Deleted status is assigned to master contracts and volume license agreements, the related purchase contracts and contract items are not affected.
Purchase contracts
Marking purchase contracts as deleted will also set the Deleted status for all subordinate contract items. Payments, deliveries, invoices, bookings, and requisitions will not be affected.
Contract items
If you assign the Deleted status to contract items, the related deliveries, invoices, bookings, and requisitions remain unchanged. If you need to delete them from the system, you can do so under the Procurement and Accounting navigation item.
What happens when objects are deleted completely
Master contracts and volume license agreements
Deleting master contracts and volume license agreements from the system does not influence related purchase contracts and contract items.
Purchase contracts
Complete deletion of contracts also removes related payments and contract items from the system. Deleting contract items involves deleting subordinate deliveries, invoices, bookings, and requisitions.
Contract items
Complete deletion of contract items also removes subordinate deliveries, invoices, bookings, and requisitions from the system.
If there are contracts and contract items in the Deleted status and you exclude this status from the Available Status Values for Contracts setting, such contracts and contract items will not be physically removed from the system.
