Overview of OEMConfig apps

Overview of OEMConfig apps

Android Enterprise offers the great ability to perform a full device configuration using a single OEMConfig application provided by device manufacturers that you can add and configure in Silverback. With Silverback, you can use OEMConfig applications to add, create, and customize OEM-specific settings for Android Enterprise devices. OEMConfig is a standard that enterprise mobility management providers and OEMs follow in order to make device configurations available to IT admins, without the need for EMM's to built them natively in the management system. Using an OEM configuration is very powerful as manufacturers usually offer to manage all available configurations of their devices with this application, and if you are missing a setting or option in Tags or Policies , you can refer to the OEMConfiguration application, as demonstrated in the Manage Android Enterprise with Android Management API article with the Knox Service Plugin provided by Samsung. For Android Enterprise with Companion, you can refer to Android Enterprise VII: Knox Service Plugin for additional information.

The following overview lists the most popular OEM configuration apps from various manufacturers. If you are not sure whether your device manufacturer provides an OEM configuration app, please contact the manufacturer.
