EM Agent: Postpone
This article describes how a task is postponed by the EM Agent. As soon as the EM Agent receives a new task for the end user, it notifies the user accordingly.
The EM Agent pops up automatically and the icon in the tool bar starts to flash.
his is achieved on the client by the job 'EmUiPopup', which can be found under C:/ProgramData/Matrix42/Enterprise Manager Agent/Jobs. By default, checks are performed once per hour!
The user may either start the task directly or postpone it. After the task has been postponed, a new window is displayed in the calendar format to help the user postpone the task accordingly.
Once another installation time has been selected, this is specified on the task and displayed accordingly.
Once the installation time has been reached, the task is initiated automatically.
This is done on the client by the job 'EmSchedule', which can be found under C:/ProgramData/Matrix42/Enterprise Manager Agent/Jobs.
The user may postpone the task until the time that has been set by the administrator as mandatory when creating the task has expired. Then, configuration of the EM Agent profile is applied.
This setting can be modified under Administration - EM Agent - Profile.
By default, this function is disabled, which means that the the user cannot postpone the task once the specified installation time has expired and installation is performed automatically. If this function is enabled and a number of allowed postponements is specified, the user many postpone the task as many times as specified in the Agent profile before installation is performed automatically.
The following picture illustrates that this function is only activated when the "Mandatory" time frame is reached and the reminder is activated accordingly.
