Starting with Matrix42 Oracle Compliance

This article explains what kind of data the add-on collects and how it processes the data.

System information

Matrix42 Oracle Compliance add-on collects and inventories the information about Oracle Database products, Java, operating systems, CPU resources, hardware models, etc.

Matrix42 Oracle Compliance has been verified by Oracle to provide data sets for Java and  Oracle Databases, Options and Management packs that Oracle will accept whenever accurate measurement data is needed and can be used as an alternative to installing Oracle's own measurement tools.

Oracle Database product installations and usage

Databases are detected automatically during the data collection. All relevant information is gathered and imported. Based on the database query results, the data is analyzed for each one of Oracle's commercial Options and Packs. The add-on checks if they are installed and granted/agreed and if a licensable usage could be determined.
The evidence is made transparent in the UI.

Partitioning policy compliance checks

Each system is examined for the usage of virtualization or partitioning policies. The configurations are checked for compliance with Oracle’s Partitioning Policy. For each system it is stated whether it is regarded as hard or soft partitioned.
License requirements are generated taking into account the partitioning information.

Java installations

Starting with version 3.0, the Matrix42 Oracle Compliance add-on also performs discovery and inventory of Java installations.
