Application Guide Part II: Add Android Application

Add Android Application

Due to a split of Android and Samsung Safe devices in Silverback, it is required to configure your applications for both device types separately., but the process for both is nearly the same. 

Add Android Application

  • Navigate to App Portal
  • Click Android
  • Click New Application

From here Administrators have the ability to choose the application type and configure the corresponding details:

Setting Enterprise Market Managed Play Description
Name e.g. Imagoverum Travel e.g. Matrix42 Secure Container e.g. Matrix42 Secure Container The display name of the application being added.
Description e.g. Imagoverum Travel will provide you information about your upcoming travels and helps to you create your travel expense.   e.g. A containerized workspace provides a secure data platform that protects your data between your enterprise’s backend. e.g. A containerized workspace provides a secure data platform that protects your data between your enterprise’s backend. The description of the application to display. Will be displayed in App Portal in Silverback and on end users App Portal (Enterprise and Market). 
APK File Choose File not available not available Uploads the *.apk file
URL not available e.g. https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ecurecontainer not available

App Identity not available not available e.g. com.matrix42.securecontainer Enter the unique identifier for Android Apps. It is displayed at the end of every Google Play application URL. Please check the additional Get App Identity section.
Icon Choose File Choose File Choose File

The icon to display in the app portal. It must meet the following specifications:

  • Dimensions: 114x114
  • Format: PNG

If no icon is specified, a default, blank icon will be used.

Visible in App Portal Enabled or Disabled Enabled or Disabled not available Makes the App Visible to users in the Silverback App Portal.
App Management  
Edit managed configuration not available not available Edit

For applications that support this, clicking the Edit button will allow you to edit the configuration settings for that app. These settings are determined by the developer, so you will be presented with all the settings that are available for that app.

Silverback System Variables are supported for App Configurations

Automatically push to managed devices Enabled or Disabled not available Enabled or Disabled Will automatically install the app on assigned devices.
  • Click Save
  • For Managed Play applications an additional screen will appear to accept permissions. 
  • Click Yes

Add Samsung Safe Application

  • Navigate to App Portal
  • Click SamsungSafe
  • Click New Application

KNOX Signed Application Enabled or Disabled not available not available Nominates that the app has been signed by Samsung as a KNOX Signed App. This will make the app applicable to KNOX Containers.

Get App Identity

 The process for adding an Managed Play application is done using the using the following steps:

Copy the Application Identity portion (after id=) and paste this into the App Identity field, for the above URL, this would be: com.matrix42.securecontainer
