What is the SAP Discovery extension
Introduction
This extension enables the integration between Matrix42 Enterprise Service Management and the SAP solution.
You can install it from the Extension Gallery. The add-on contains the SAP Discovery data provider which imports SAP systems, instances, processes, and other relevant data.
Installing the SAP Discovery extension automatically installs the Dependency Graph extension. Our dependency view of SAP systems visualizes the relationships between components and helps you understand how they impact each other as well as evaluate risks and take appropriate measures to prevent or minimize their impact.
How it works
The SAP Discovery extension identifies and retrieves information about various SAP components within an SAP system using the SAPControl API and SAP Connector for .NET. The SAPControl API is a part of the SAP NetWeaver platform, which allows for remote monitoring and management of SAP system components.
The extension leverages the SAPControl API and SAP Connector for .NET SDK to query and analyze the SAP system's landscape, providing valuable insights into the different components that run within the system. It extracts crucial details about the status, version, and health of SAP components (such as application servers, message servers, enqueue servers, dispatcher) and more.

Prerequisites
There are several prerequisites to using this feature:
- A product license for 'ITAM Enterprise' needs to be in place.
- A product license for DDM needs to be in place.
- Matrix42 Enterprise Service Management version 12.0 or higher needs to be installed.
- SAP version 7.49 or higher.
- SAP Connector for .NET 3.1 is installed.
- Access to SAP Host (direct or with VPN).
