About this Release

Matrix42 Secure Unified Endpoint Management 23.0 Update 3 provides new and improved features that have been implemented. During the development of this version, we have been focusing on valued feedback from our customers and partners to provide an ideal feature selection.

Overview

New Features for Unified Endpoint Management

  • Display of devices imported from Intune
  • Device Actions for Intune devices
  • Management system sets to "Modern" or Co-Managed" for Intune devices
  • Management type sets to "Intune Integration"

General Enhancements and Changes

  • The Extension "Intune Integration Core" is  mandatory  prerequisite for the UEM Extension now
  • The Silverback remote action "Wipe" is limited to the UEM Device Admin user role
  • Silverback Actions are only visible on Silverback managed devices
  • Intune and Silverback Actions are only visible on devices with status "Active"
  • Added collection of anonymised  usage data (Telemetry)

Updates after initial release

  • UUX for UEM 23.0.3.29 (27.3.2024)
    • Fixed issues with open and close connection to Empirum API which in rare circumstances caused errors.

New Features

Display of devices imported from Intune

To get an comprehensive overview of all endpoint devices also Intune devices which were imported from Intune via the "Intune Integration" data provider are displayed in the endpoint devices list. For more details about prerequisites and installation, please see the documentation.

Users do not need access to the Intune management console to retrieve details of the devices.

Intune device visibility and management requires the Intune Inventory Data Provider and the Enterprise Management Platform license.

Device Actions for Intune devices

To allow users easy troubleshooting on endpoints which are managed by Intune several device actions are provided. this actions are also visible in the service desk application. 

The actions require additional App privileges as described in the installation guide.

  • Refresh - requires UEM Device Admin or UEM Device User user roles
  • Reboot - UEM Device Admin or UEM Device User user roles
  • Wipe - UEM Device Admin user role
  • Autopilot Reset  - UEM Device Admin user role

Management system sets to "Modern" or Co-Managed" for Intune devices

  • The redundant using of the name "Management Type" has been changed. 
    • Management Type describes the devices management entity which is used for all import data providers. This was introduced by Asset Management.
    • Management System is now the name of the management layer used by device management. This was introduced by UEM.
      • Classic - Empirum Agent based.
      • Modern - Silverback or Intune via MDM.
      • Co-Managemed - Classic and modern managed devices.

Bug Fixes

  • PRB37705: The FQDN in the computer properties in Empirum is missing when a new computer is created in UEM.

Telemetry

In this release, we've implemented data telemetry to capture anonymous usage metrics of our software. This feature strictly collects non-personal data related to the usage and performance of the software, ensuring user privacy is fully respected. This will aid in enhancing future updates and overall user experience.

Known Issues

  • The last seen time is not shown for Intune imported devices when using the Intune Data Provider 3.7.3 or older.  This will be fixed with an upcoming Intune Data Provider.
  • Only one Intune tenant is supported for device actions. The fist configured configuration is used to select the service connection to Microsoft Graph API.
