Silversync Guide VI: Access on Android
Before you Start
On Android and Samsung Knox devices, the Matrix42 Documents application exclusively provides access to Mobile Content Management with encryption options provided by EgoSecure Data Protection. The feature set of the Matrix42 documents app generally includes access Matrix42 Silversync file shares and Microsoft Sharepoint repositories. In this guide, we will focus on creating access to Matrix42 Silversync file shares and you can refer to the Matrix42 Documents guide for additional configuration and integration options. The integration for Matrix42 Silversync file shares is performed with the following steps:
- Import application as Managed Google Play
- Add Application to a Tag
- Assign Tag
- Download and start Application
Process Overview
To use the Mobile Content Management functionality in Silverback you need full fill the following steps:
- Matrix42 Documents application needs to be imported to the App Portal as a Managed Play application
- The application needs to be added to a Tag which needs to be assigned to devices
- The application will retrieve the connection to Silversync automatically when Content is added into a Tag and the application is assigned and installed on a device
- Additional options can be configured via Managed Configurations
Import Application into Silverback
Adding the Matrix42 Documents application as a Managed Google Play requires a integration with Android Enterprise. Please refer to our Integration Guides.
- Login to your Silverback Management Console as an Administrator
- Navigate to App Portal
- Click Android or Samsung Knox
- Click New Application
- Ensure that Managed Play is set as Type
- Click the search icon next to Name
- Search for Matrix42 Documents
- Select the application and confirm with Select
- Adjust the name (optional)
- Enter a Description (optional)
- Configure the App Management options according to your needs:
- e.g. enable Automatically push to managed devices
- At this point, locate the Edit Managed Configuration section and press Edit and review the configuration options, keeping this option in mind to perform additional configuration. Do not make any changes at this stage and press Cancel, as we recommend that you first check the general functionality, before adding any additional settings
- Click Save
Add Application to a Tag
- Navigate to Tags
- Edit our in previous chapter created Tag or create a new one and enable the Apps Feature
- Ensure to enable Android and/or Samsung Knox as Device Types
- Navigate to Apps
- Choose Android or Samsung Knox
- Click Assign More Apps
- Select Matrix42 Documents
- Click Add Selected Apps
Repeat the steps for all enabled Device Types.
By pressing the Edit button inside the Tag, you can overrule or extend the settings inherited from the App Portal and additional settings for the Matrix42 Documents. Again, we recommend first to ensure the general functionality, before adding additional options.
Assign Tag
- Navigate to Definition and enable the Auto Population or Assign the Tag manually with Associated Devices button
- Click Save
- Press Push to devices
Download and start Application
- After a successful Tag configuration the application, the application should be distributed to your device(s) based on the App Management options you have configured.
- After a successful download and installation, open the Matrix42 documents application on your Android or Samsung Knox device
- Select now your Silversync Content Provider
- Please be patient if the Content Provider does not appear directly, it might take some moments
- Wait until refresh process is finished
- Browse through your folder structure, open any file and get familiar with the Matrix42 Documents application
