Silversync Guide IV: Content Distribution

Create a Tag

  • Open your Silverback Management Console and Login as an Administrator
  • Navigate to Tags
  • Click New Tag
  • Enter a name for the Tag, e.g. Silversync Content
  • Enter a description (optional)
  • Enable the Content feature
  • Enable the Apps Feature
  • Enable the Device Types you want to grant access to the content
    • Supported Device Types
      • iPhone
      • iPad
      • Android
      • Samsung Knox
  • Press Save

Add Content

Depending on the file access method you have selected, the process for adding content is slightly different.

Option 1: Server Authenticates

  • Navigate to Content in the left menu
  • Click Add Content Provider
  • Enter a Name, e.g. Silversync Imagoverum
  • Select as type Silversync
  • Enter a Note
  • Expand C:\Files 
    • You should see now the previously created three folders
  • Select the C:\Files Root Folder
  • Expand your added network share \\FILESHARE\Remote Fileshare\
    • You should see now the previously created three folders
    • If not, recheck your permissions or proceed without 
  • Select the \\FILESHARE\Remote Fileshare Root Folder
  • Click Save
  • Click OK

Entered paths are supporting system variables. As an example “{UserName}” will be replaced with that unique user’s username. This is useful for mapping to a home drive network share for example. 

Option 2: User Authenticates

  • Navigate to Content in the left menu
  • Click Add Content Provider
  • Enter a Name, e.g. Silversync Imagoverum
  • Select as type Silversync or any of the other providers:
  • Enter a Note
  • Click Add
  • Enter C:\Files 
  • Click Add
  • Enter \\FILESHARE\Remote Fileshare\File Share 1
  • Click Add
  • Enter \\FILESHARE\Remote Fileshare\File Share 2
  • Click Add
  • Enter \\FILESHARE\Remote Fileshare\File Share 3
  • Click Save

You can also add just \\FILESHARE\Remote Fileshare\ to share all subfolders. Each added entry will be shown separately in the Matrix42 Documents application.

Tag Deployment

At this point, you could already configure the deployment options for the Tag when you return to the Definition tab to ensure which devices will receive the configuration. However, we recommend that you set the deployment options in the next section when we move on to configure and deploy the Matrix42 Documents application. The easiest way is to use this already created Tag for the later deployment of the application. That is why we have already enabled the Apps feature in this tag.
