Inventory Source Data / View

Source data

Under "Source data" you can specify the elements used for the inventory. A group combines several elements. New queries can be read out via WMI or the EM SQL table.

Add source data

Under "Administration - Inventory - Source data" you can find standardized groups and elements as well the option to create new elements, for instance, from a new data import. A new group is set up in a first step for this purpose.

You must select a name and an icon. Once the group is confirmed, you must integrate the new elements by clicking on the new group and add a new element.

As illustrated in the screenshot, the group and the names are specified. When selecting the data and search tables, a new window will open where all tables from the EM database are listed.

In this example, a "New data import" has been generated before, which automatically generates a new table in the EM database and copies the content. This table can be used as data and also as search table, with the difference that there may be a table where all data are contained and which is relatively big, and another table for search purposes where all data records are summarized to minimize and optimize data loads during searches.

In addition to the database tables, there is the option to include a WMI query. Upon opening, another window is displayed where you can specify any WMI queries.

The last two options when a new inventory element is created relate to the format (no format, share, multiply) and the unit (KB, GB, seconds, minutes, etc.)

Inventory view

This option is used to configure all elements to be displayed in the inventory and available for reports.

Extend inventory view

Once the source data have been extended, as described under you can now extend the inventory view of the client. To do so, you must create a new main category.

Similar to source data, you must specify a name and an icon and then generate the content of this category by creating a "new window".

You must select the name and the main category that you have created before and then select the content. When you click on the "Content" option, a new window will open.

You can use this window to generate one content per window; various types of content are available, as shown in the screenshot above. The "Simple Value" can be configured as follows:

The "List" type is configured as shown in the following screenshots:

It is possible to add several types one after the other and to the change the order of main categories; to do so, drag and drop the main category to sort it as desired.

Once you have extended the inventory, the inventory view has changed as follows:

The main category has been specified and the required content is displayed, as "Value" type...

... and as list.
