Mail Gateway Integration VI: Connection Check

Check Remote Access

  • You should be able to navigate to the Mail Gateway or Exchange Server externally by opening one of the URLs:
  • https://smg.imagoverum.com/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync/HealthCheck.htm
    • You should see the following result:

  • https://smg.imagoverum.com/Microsoft-­Server-­ActiveSync
    • You should get here to an Authentication Request form in your browser
    • From here you can try (optional) to enter your ActiveSync credentials to check the authentication itself but afterwards you might face an error with "The page cannot be displayed".

The URLs might needs to be entered key sensitive in your browser. 

Check Client Connection

We recommend to first check the connection to Exchange ActiveSync by adding an Microsoft Exchange account to one of your target devices and configure there the connection details for Email, Server, Port, Domain, Username and Password manually. When you are able to add the account manually to Gmail or Mail, you can distribute your configuration with Silverback as highlighted in the following sections. 

Create a new Tag

  • Open your Silverback Management Console
  • Login as an Administrator
  • Navigate to Tags
  • Click New Tag
  • Enter a Name, e.g. Exchange ActiveSync
  • Add a description e.g. Mail Gateway Integration
  • Enable Profile 
  • Enable your desired Device Types, e.g. iPhone
  • Click Save

For Android Enterprise devices, enable Apps as Feature and distribute the ActiveSync Profile with a Managed Configuration for e.g. Gmail or Outlook.

Configure Exchange ActiveSync Profile

  • Navigate to Profile
  • Click Edit
  • Enable Exchange ActiveSync Settings
  • Enter as Label name e.g. Imagoverum Mail
  • Enter under Server Name your external Server URL / DNS name where the clients will connect to Exchange Active Sync
    • e.g. smg.imagoverum.com
  • Configure additional settings (optional)
  • Click Save
  • Confirm with OK

Assign Tag

  • Navigate to Definition
  • Click Associated Devices
  • Select Attach More Devices
  • Select your device for testing purpose
  • Click Attach Selected Devices
  • Confirm with OK
  • Click Close
  • Click Push to Devices

Check Connection

  • On your device a configured Exchange Active Sync Profile should be applied
  • Try to connect with the Mail client to Exchange ActiveSync
