Getting started with Client Management (Empirum) SaaS

First steps in your Matrix42 Client Management (Empirum) SaaS solution and links to the documentation on different topics. Matrix42 Client Management (Empirum) SaaS is part of Matrix42 Unified Endpoint Management.

Overview

Matrix42 is a provider of Cloud Solutions for smart workspace management. However, the basic product are identical to local (on premise) setups and installations, the solution differ in terms of provisioning, access and functions. This article is describing Client Management (Empirum) SaaS, use of Inventory, Software Management and Patch Management with the Empirum UEM Agent.

Empirum is part of the Secure Unified Endpoint Management (SUEM) and Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) Suites. They provide a web-based console based on the Matrix42 Digital Workspace Platform for various client management activities. See the dedicated documentation.

ACCESS TO THE CLOUD INSTANCE

Empirum Administrators

Every access to the cloud instance is implemented via HTTPS protocol, secured by using of username and password.

The cloud instance is accessible with any up to date internet browser. The URL is unique for each customer instance and corresponds to the following example https://empirum000.m42cloud.com

Access to the consoles is possible with the specified credentials:

Empirum Management Console

  1. Navigate to the provided URL https://empirum000.m42cloud.com/rdweb and logon with the provided credentials. The only published apps are the "Matrix42 Management Console" and the "Matrix42 WinPE Driver Assistant".

  2. Download the RDP file (by clicking Matrix42 Management Console) and save it for further use. Start the RDP connection by using the downloaded RDP file. Authenticate with the same credentials as before.
  3. The Matrix42 Management Console is starting; please ensure to select the DSN “EmpDatabase”. Username and Password are greyed out because of Windows Authentication.

Do not change any configurations or assignments at the Configuration Groups / Empirum Server / Master Server.

Empirum Management Console (Web Based)

  1. Navigate to the provided URL https://empirum000.m42cloud.com/RDweb/Webclient and logon with the provided credentials. The only published apps are the "Matrix42 Management Console" and the "Matrix42 WinPE Driver Assistant".

  2. The Matrix42 Management Console is starting; please ensure to select the DSN “EmpDatabase”. Username and Password are greyed out because of Windows Authentication.

Empirum API

The Empirum API is accessible via HTTPS at Port 8443. Please note that you need the Empirum SDK CLM V1.20 or higher.

Example of connection with PowerShell (replace the variables with your own values):

Upload of own Software Packages, Operating Systems and Drivers

You have two options to upload software packages, operating system sources and language packages.

  1. Web based upload via the SUEM console in the UUX. This is an easy to use upload and import without size limitation. See the dedicated documentation. It is also possible to integrate packages from the Matrix42 PackageCloud directly via UUX. See the documentation.
  2. Upload via WebDav Access. This has a file size limitation of 4 GB and requires the manual import in the Empirum console.

Upload via WebDav

Upload of own Software Packages is done via WebDAV protocol. The upload is granted via the following URL’s:

Upload custom drivers for integration into WinPE boot images via the URL:

If uploading larger files fails, please check the following registry key on your client:
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WebClient\Parameters, FileSizeLimitInBytes
and change the value to 0xFFFFFFFF (equivalent to 4 GB).

To upload files larger than 4 GB, please open a ticket in our Support Portal or send an email to helpdesk@matrix42.com. The support team will provide you with an upload link to which you can transfer the sources. After that, the support team will import the sources into your SaaS environment.

Password Self Service

The password can be changed at https://passcore.m42cloud.com. Please ensure, that you enter the username only in lower case without leading domain name.
