Update Guide: Management Console

Endpoint Data Protection Management Console Update

This guide explains how to update the EgoSecure Data Protection Management Console to ensure compatibility with the Server and access to the latest features and improvements. Keeping the Console version aligned with the Server is essential for maintaining a stable and secure environment. The guide covers update prompts, version compatibility requirements, and best practices for performing the update.

Download from Marketplace

With each new release, an updated version of the Management Console is made available for direct download from the Marketplace. The Console can be launched from any workstation, allowing administrators to manage the environment flexibly from different machines.

Download from the Server

After performing an update of the server, a new version of the EgoSecure Data Protection Management Console is part of the installation. You can use two different options to update the console on your workstations.

Copy Binary

After the update, you find the new version of the EgoSecure Data Protection Management Console (EgoSecureConsole.exe) in the installation directory. The default directory is C:\Program Files\EgoSecure\EgoSecure Server\. You can copy that file to other workstations or share the file.

Install Update Remotely

When starting a Console with a version older than the one available on the Server, administrators will see a notification after logging in, informing them that a newer version of the Console is available.

Disable Console Update Prompt

For on-premises installations, there is an option to disable this update prompt available under Administration | Superadmin | Console Policies

However, this option only works if the Server and Console application versions are within the same major release. For example, it is supported when the Server runs version Endpoint Data Protection 25.0.0.2 and the Console runs on version 25.0.0.1, or when the Server runs Endpoint Data Protection 24.0.3.2 and the Console version is 24.0.1.0. A difference in major versions (e.g., Server v25.x vs. Console v24.x) is not allowed, as this could lead to missing functionality or incompatibilities.
