Validating different license types

Full Version

This is the most general type of license. It does not require entering any additional information.

Full Version with Maintenance

As this license includes software maintenance, the Valid Until field in the Maintenance section on the General page should be filled in. You should also keep in mind that version of the assigned software must be “Non-specific”.

Update Version

The Update Version license requires a base license. Therefore, go to the Related Licenses page and add one or several base licenses. If the update version license has unlimited usage rights, make sure that its base license is also unlimited.

License Conversion

The License Conversion type requires a base license. Therefore, go to the Related Licenses page and add one or several base licenses. If the license conversion has unlimited usage rights, make sure that its base license is also unlimited.

OEM Version

The Original Equipment Manufacturers license for a software product means that this software product can be used only with explicitly named devices. To specify such devices, go to the Availability page and add devices in the System Restrictions grid. This grid is important for the automatic license validation. The OEM license validation is successful if the license has at least one associated device whose status is relevant for license compliance. The status relevance of a device is determined by the asset status settings. If the device is a server (this value is specified in the Computer Role field of a computer dialog), the system also checks the Power State field value of this server. Only servers in the Powered On and Unknown power states are considered relevant for license compliance. All usage rights of an OEM license that are not associated with eligible devices are invalid and will not be used for entitlements.

Maintenance

This type of license requires a valid maintenance expiration date and a base license. To add a maintenance expiration date, fill in the Valid Until field in the Maintenance section on the General page. On the Related Licenses page, you can add one or several base licenses.

Maintenance Renewal

This type of license requires a valid maintenance expiration date and a base license. To add a maintenance expiration date, fill in the Valid Until field in the Maintenance section on the General page. On the Related Licenses page, you can add one or several base licenses.

Subscription

The subscription license requires the license validity period to be specified. To specify it, fill in the Valid From date in the Catalog Item section on the General page. A Valid Until date is optional and can be left empty in case your subscription has no defined expiration date.
