Task

Avoid problems when updating EgoSecure Full Disk Encryption.

EgoSecure Full Disk Encryption update can be performed only locally or via the script. For details, see the the EgoSecure FDE - Installation and troubleshooting guide, chapter 2.5 "Upgrade".

Solution

Depending on the operating system version, configuration and environment, the problems during an update may occur, which may affect the encrypted disks and the pre-boot authentication process.
To avoid problems during update, we recommend that you pay attention to the following points:
  • Back up ERI files
    Make sure that ERI files used for the recovery of encrypted disks in case of emergency are backed up and stored in a safe place.
  • Do not update FDE and Windows at once
    Bear in mind that Windows is restarted during the FDE update process. Make sure that no Windows update is ready to install.
