Change ownership of an object

Overview

Most configuration items provide option to define organizational ownership. This helps to understand where in the organization an object belongs to. Also, it can be used to define access rights of users to respective objects based on their roles. To change access rights based on ownership, setup an according role.

Following attributes describe the ownership of an object:

  • Organizational Unit  
    Defines the ownership regarding the legal and organizational structure
  • Cost Center 
    Defines the ownership regarding the cost management structure
  • Location 
    Defines the ownership regarding the structure by geography or place

Change Ownership

To change ownership of an object:

  1. Choose one or multiple records you want to change the ownership
  2. Click on action "Change Ownership"
  3. In the wizard, select new Organizational Unit, Cost Center or Location 
  4. Finish wizard
