HowTo: Configuration of Azure Active Directory

Overview  

Matrix42 Digital Workspace Platform provides a simple way to configure Microsoft Entra ID / Microsoft 365 integration.

Depending on your needs you are able to choose from one of the supported scenarios:

• Import Users, Groups to DWP
• Import Users, Groups to DWP, and Login with Microsoft Entra ID

Prerequisites

• DWP subscription is activated on your environment

• You have Administrator access to DWP and Azure Portal

• Microsoft Entra ID exists

Configuring Import and Login Scenario

The use case demonstrates how to integrate the DWP with Microsoft Entra ID in order to import the Microsoft Entra ID accounts to DWP and then use these accounts for login to DWP.

This is a recommended configuration flow for Microsoft Entra ID integration with DWP.

Configuration steps:

1. Azure portal:
   1. New application configuration:
      1. Enterprise applications: Create your own application
      2. Set up SAML-based single sign-on
      3. Attributes & Claims configuration
      4. SAML Signing certificate
   2. Properties: Assignment required configuration
   3. App registrations:
      1. API permissions
      2. Certificates & secrets
2. DWP instance:
   1. New Microsoft Entra ID / Microsoft 365
   2. General settings (enable login)
   3. Connector Configuration (import options)
   4. Login Configuration 
   5. Test Connection 
   6. Activate Microsoft Entra ID / Microsoft 365  Data Provider
   7. Adjust Global System Settings to Use New Redirect URL
   8. Test sign-in & sign-out

Configuring Import Only Scenario

The use case demonstrates how to integrate the DWP with Microsoft Entra ID in order to import the Microsoft Entra ID accounts to DWP.

Please note that these accounts can not be used for login to DWP. If you need the login option as well, consider the configuration described in Configuring Import and Login Scenario section.

   6. Test import results
